MicroBytes had
to incorporate a variety of technologies for this sophisticated,
multi-tier project.
We used Oracle
8i database server for the backend. All the analytical and business
services functions were developed using Servlets, JavaBeans, Enterprise
Java Beans, JSP, IBM WebSphere, and Visual Age. Additionally, we
integrated a number of other online financial services to achieve
cross-platform portability, using CORBA as well as EJB, for distributed
processing.

 To
ensure security, we established a number of firewalls and proxy
servers, and we used SSL (Secure Socket Layer).
The presentation
layer was comprised of both thin and fat clients, enabling any customer
to access their account from their web browser. For business customers,
we created a special utility through which they could access and
manage their accounts.
